  • Quit Smoking: Smoking increases the likelihood of respiratory problems both during and after anaesthesia. For your safety, we recommend quitting smoking at least 6 weeks before your procedure. Your GP can provide guidance on nicotine replacement therapy or other support options to help you stop smoking.
  • Maintain a Healthy Weight: If you’re carrying extra weight, working towards a healthier weight and improving your fitness can significantly reduce the risks associated with anaesthesia. This can also support a smoother recovery.
  • Visit Your GP: A check-up with your GP is a great opportunity to address any existing health issues and ensure you’re in the best condition for your procedure.
  • Visit Your Dentist: If you have loose or damaged teeth, be sure to consult your dentist before treatment. Addressing any dental concerns ahead of time can prevent complications during your procedure.

By taking these steps, you’re helping to ensure your experience with anaesthesia and surgery is as safe and stress free as possible.
